New 2019 Course Descriptions!

Located in the world–famous, mountain–resort community, Taos, New Mexico, Taos School of Metalsmithing and Lapidary Design offers beginning through advanced classes in jewelry making and stone cutting. Small group classes and individual instruction are available throughout the year in a friendly, artistically stimulating environment.

Workshops are taught by Marilynn Nicholson, an internationally renowned designer. Marilynn is known for developing unusual techniques used in cutting and setting irregular shaped stones and has designed a collection of unique catches, hinges, and mechanisms. (See enclosed biography.)

During the summer months, one–week classes focus on specific techniques while introducing students of all levels to the rich artistic heritage of Northern New Mexico.

Discounted accommodations in nearby bed and breakfasts, hotels, and private homes allow out of town visitors to experience a truer feeling of what life in the Southwest is really like. A housing list and directions will be sent upon request. Most workshops are scheduled in advance and take place during the spring, summer and autumn months. During the remaining months of the year, the schedule is more flexible and includes hourly, half–day, full–day, weekend, and weekly classes that are booked at shorter notice and vary from month to month.

Please contact us to request up to date information. We enjoy helping organize educational holidays where students can learn metal working techniques while exploring galleries and other points of interests in Santa Fe and Taos.
